Homosexuality- A Review Of The Muslim Era And The Present Condition.

Your identity is what you build up with your personal experiences, personal information and beliefs. The problem with having religion defining your identity is that a lot of times people end up not defining their identity on their own. Sexual orientation or identity is something that one should develop oneself.
Muslims have always followed blindly whatever social and traditional stances the other societies have offered and have even molded the religious views somehow to suit them. Ironically, religion can help people become better people; it can also make them the worst people because it takes away their ability to be objective. If we take a look at the past history you would be astounded to know that Muslim emperors and qazis, the main figures of law and order, were never biased about homosexuals. Even during the Ottoman and Abbasid empires homosexuality was practiced freely. People were accused and punished more on the basis of their crime performed and proofs available as is the Islamic law, and not on the basis of their sexuality. But with the passage of time the Muslim emperors noticed that the western world was being biased about homosexuals along with progression in other fields. So the Muslims also started holding a biased opinion against the homosexuals. Ironically now the western world is more comfortable accepting homosexuals as a part of their society than Muslims. Then there are countries like Iran who hold such strong negative opinions that they go as far as announcing their society to be completely free of homosexuals. The only conclusion that the human mind comes to is that homosexuals are not even considered a part of the humanity.
